As a novelist and journalist, I know all about the writing process.

My love of writing started when I was young. But that didn’t mean my own college essays were easy.

I’ll never forget sitting in our computer room, staring at the starry screensaver (this was the nineties), totally stressed. I knew this essay was important – extremely, vitally, life-altering important – but I didn’t know where to start.

College essays are hard, but I can help. I’ll guide you through the writing process, sharing fail-proof strategies so you can write college essays that do exactly what they need to do. And we’ll even make sure you have some fun along the way.

As for my own college essay, after a lot of procrastination, I found a way into my story. That essay helped earn me admission into every college I applied for, including several Ivies. Even better, I gained a skill that helped me in myriad ways, from earning scholarships and awards in college and grad school, to landing my first job.

Now, I live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. I work as a health writer, novelist and data analyst (still telling stories, but with numbers), and spend as much time outside as possible.

Thanks so much for being here. I look forward to connecting.
